I let Dave have a free hand this week and he made some spoof advertisements.
These ads show how our work can be used as most of our animations are “free standing” with no background so if you have a little computer graphic experience making banners or little personal animations are easy. I know that some of the girls on the Paint Shop Pro forums have made some brilliant sigs with his work.
OK so the idea is good, but will any of you want to use these banners, after all there is no revenue for clicking on them and although Dave finds them funny his sense of humour is strange and he would laugh to see a pudding crawl.
Spoof ads are not a new thing and Dave got the idea from the Passing Clouds Holiday Homes blog that got the gold award from us last week.
Barbeque season is now here, and we have found a supplier of Sheftalia, a Cypriot sausage made with plenty of fresh onion and spice that we absolutely love.
Will they be up to the standard of the ones we get in Nicosia; we will let you know next week.
This week Dave has added some animated follow me on twitter buttons .
They are sort of sweet if not a little strange but they could work as a twitter button link on your blogs or websites. We have found another website that made us laugh; information is on the favourite blogs page.
At the moment Dave is quite happy, he has been taken of the medication he was on and it allows him to have a little more of the Southern Comfort he so favours.
Problem is that with the sunshine we are now getting it will be a hard job to keep him from lazing about in the garden instead of updating our website; at least he still has a few projects on the drawing board.
This week Dave found a blog that really makes him laugh so I had a look also. This blog is written by someone who obviously has a lot in common with Dave, even down to his anxieties, thoughts on a spiritual world and a terrible fear of dentists.
It is called www.sobloggy.com. Our favourite blog is well worth a visitDave is still mucking about with his Sketchup 3D models and over the past few weeks and has been asked for a few more animated words. These have been added. He has been cheeky and added a Brown Clown animation to the political page. He will get into serious trouble one day but he says he is too old too worry. Dave has not made many morphing animations and I love the effect especially when a 3D model is used like the face animations on our no smoking page.
This week Dave has made some preloading or page loading animations. He sometimes makes Flash animations and a preloader is always handy.
We have also been looking at some of the Sketchup models we have made and we think we may be able to make some animations from them.
On looking around at some of our bigger rival sites we notice that many are using some of our animations, we always make sure we get credit and a link for using them but we are very proud that we do not use any other website’s animations on Sevenoaks Art.
We must be an exception with our animations because everything has been made by Dave over the past ten years.
Our website is truly full of original and good quality content, sadly lacking in many other animated gif websites.
Unusual for us to post twice a week but we have just finished two extra pages.
John Cross contacted Dave about his times at Hyders Plaxtol in the sixties so we copied and pasted his comments into a new page. Plaxtol in the sixties
We originally had a page about self catering apartments in Larnaca but felt that the comments were outdated so removed it.
Since then we have stayed in the Dhekelia area of Larnaca in several self catering apartments so reintroduced it with our latest findings. Self catering Larnaca
It’s a rainy bank holiday so we have found time to do these modifications and watch the grass grow even higher in our garden.
